A native of Atlanta, Sherry LaBoon has lived most of her life in the Midwest . She earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa. Sherry has taught communication courses at the college level for more than ten years, most recently at The University of Missouri - St. Louis. She has also served as a communication training consultant for clients ranging from Amana Refrigeration to the prestigious Westminster School in Atlanta.

In addition to her teaching and consulting work, Sherry was the Coordinator for Internships for the UM - St. Louis Department of Communication. She also coached the debate and forensics team and acted as advisor for Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. Sherry returned to Georgia in 1995 to complete doctoral work in Educational Leadership at the University of Georgia in Athens.

Sherry has been an active member of each community as she has relocated across the midwest in support of her husband's career advancements. She has taken leading roles in her children's schools and Scout troops, and in her neighborhood association. She is also active in her Church and volunteers as an instructor with the American Red Cross. In their spare time, Sherry and her husband have become licensed as both pilots and amateur radio operators.

Sherry currently lives in Watkinsville with her husband, Steve, and their 14 year old son, Andrew. The LaBoon's 19 year old son, Stephen, is currently performing a mission of service in American Sign Language.
